My dad remembers growing up in Florida and manatees being healthy and plentiful - now if we see one, they have scars from human machinery.

As a Florida
Florida,
United States
A huge beautiful and gentle animal. Being killed and injured in great numbers by selfish self-centered people joyriding too fast in polluting pleasure boats. Federal and Florida government could help turn this situation around with strict guidelines for speed, closing critical habitats to boats, requiring a protection device similar to the frame on a fan, and strictly enforcing these and existing laws intended to protect them.
