Little is know about beluga whales in our popular culture. Highlighting all the species that exhibits beyond our narrow scope would be interesting and remind us of the vastness of our oceans.

We already lost so many whales and, against international agreements, they are still hunted, even though their meat export is dwindling - fewer people eat whale meat - why not stop? We know a few things about migratory routes, social life, their songs - but have not unlocked their speech, how their brains work, how they would/will interact with us long-term. Instead, we bombard them with sonar cannons to find "hidden natural resources" or "enhance our military capabilities". How much longer can we exercise our hubris?

As the waters continue getting warmer there will continue to be a decline in the Beluga Wales. They are beautiful creatures and it is sad that their world is being destroyed.
