I close my eyes and lean back,
my face to the sun.
I let go,
sliding back into the cool quiet depths
away from hopelessness and despair.
I let go of life, drifting back and down
through the turquoise water
to peace.
to truly become no one
in the waters of the tropical ocean.
I will swim with dolphins,
and sing with whales,
and walk on the moonlit beach
with the mother turtle laying her eggs.
lose myself in the tides,
and become part of the eternal circle
that is life.
can you catch me
as i give myself to death?
your arms warm and safe
against the cool water.
can you give me a reason to live,
to keep hoping and trying?
or will I slip through your grasp
to disappear
forever.
