John Barrat, a writer-editor in the Smithsonian’s Office of Public Affairs, is the editor and content manager of Smithsonianscience.org. During more than 20 years at the Smithsonian he has helped publicize the institution's scientific research through numerous articles that have appeared in such publications as Inside Smithsonian Research, the Smithsonian News Service, and Smithsonian Research Reports. John grew up and still lives in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia where his hobbies include beekeeping and soccer chauffeur.
