This map shows the network of Coastal Ecosystem Learning Centers, which include aquariums, marine science centers, and laboratories. The network creates a partnership between federal U.S. agencies and Learning Centers across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. The network is constantly growing to address the top coastal and marine issues facing the United States. As of 2011, there were 23 Learning Centers across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada working together to educate and involve the public in protecting coastal and marine ecosystems. Through the Learning Centers, high school students team up with experts from the Learning Centers to study issues affecting the ocean and present their plans at the National Student Summit in Washington, D.C.
