(NOAA)

This Hyalonema glass sponge lives on a stalk rising from the soft sediments at about 1,700 meters (5,577 feet) depth in waters north of Puerto Rico. It serves as home to yellow zoantharian anemones, a pink squat lobster, and many other organisms not visible in the image.
