Fish populations all over the world are declining due to overfishing and marine ecosystems, as well as communities that rely on those ecosystems, are impacted by the loss.
BUT there is hope for fisheries and the communities that rely on them. The Smithsonian's Marine Conservation Program is using a variety of methods, including a "Fish App" to work with small fishing communities to better understand what species are being caught and replenish fish populations.
